Congratulations to ...........

Congratulations to Anne Cooley Haecker of Minnesota on her purchase of Royal Blue. Amy and Anne rode together as junior riders in the Kansas City area. We are so pleased that Anne will be developing this very special young horse. Never have we had such an easy young horse to start. Blue’s natural cadence, balance and big swinging gaits make him a very special young prospect. We know Anne will do very well with him for many years to come!!

Congratulations to Maureen White of Illinois on her purchase of the 2 year old Dutch gelding Ufano! Maureen recently retired her Grand Prix horse and partner of the last 15 years and was looking for a new prospect to develop. After seeing the video of Ufano, she knew he was the one! We are thrilled to see Ufano go to such a great home! Good luck with this super prospect Maureen!

Congrats to Leigh Kennedy and her Dutch mare Ritta (now shown under the name Attura). Leigh purchased Attura from us as a 3 year old. Attura has turned into a fabulous show horse, and has yet to win anything but a blue ribbon! Leigh has shown twice at the big and very competitive Lamplight shows in the Chicago area, and has consistently earned scores in the low to mid 70s at training level!

***

Congratulations to Sherri Hummel and daughter Michelle Burch and their trainer Paige Nuchols for their purchase of the 3 year old Hanoverian filly Festina (by Fabriano). This filly has been a big winner for us in the USDF/Cosequin breed shows, and was the Midwest 2002 Filly Champion! Festina will be Michelle's new mount, and she plans on showing her in dressage and hunter shows. Sherri reports that Festina is doing very well under saddle. In July, Festina was presented at the Hanoverian mare inspection in Maryland. Festina earned a very good score of 7.16 and a 9 for her walk!! The judges had Paige walk Festina for the audience to show them what a 9 quality walk looks like! Festina now is an elite mare candidate. She must complete a mare performance test and produce a foal to complete her elite mare requirements. Congratulations Sherri, Michelle, and Paige!!

***

Congratulations to Julie Kahn and Rianda. Julie recently competed Rianda at the big St Louis Dressage Society show, earning a blue ribbon and a 68% in a big Intro level class!!! I am so proud of the job Julie has done with this lovely mare. Julie is a good amateur rider who does not have any help in her immediate area. She has done the work with this mare by herself, and has done a super job. Keep up the good work Julie! We are very proud of you!!

***

Congratulations to Kim Andrews and Winter's Dream!! Kim reports that she has taken Windy to her first in hand breed show in Grass Lakes, Michigan, where she earned a 74 and 77% from judge Lilo Fore! Windy placed 2nd in the yearling filly class, and placed 3rd in a very competitive Hanoverian breed class beating many older, quality horses. Kim reports that Windy was the best behaved young horse at the show. Everyone commented on what a good girl she was! Kim is very pleased with Windy's level headed attitude, and her ability to adjust to new surroundings. This certainly bodes well for her future as a performance horse! Job well done Kim!

***

Lightning and Chris Hickey have made their U.S. debut a successful one! Chris showed Lighty in 3rd level test one at a recent show in Massachusetts earning a 68% and second place by just a few tenths of a point! The judge gave Lighty an 8 for gaits and wrote on the test that he is a Spectacular Mover! Chris reports that Lighty was very well behaved, and did not put a step wrong at this show. This pair will next compete at the New England Dressage Association show in September at 4th level. Keep an eye out for them there!

***

DiMaggio and Karen Monks-Reilly have started their show season with HUGE scores! DiMaggio is consistently earning scores in the mid to upper 70's at training level, and has twice earned a 79%!!!! This team has a shot at winning some top year end USDF awards! They made their first level debut this spring, and earned a remarkable 68%! Way to go Karen!   Very impressive work especially considering DiMaggio is only 4 years old! What a good boy!

***

We are hearing excellent reports in regards to Victor Marano's young Nimmerdor son Sylvester. Victor has left Sylvester in Germany for further training with Holger Kubelke. Holger recently competed Sylvester in a young jumper class, where Sylvester earned 4th out of 44 competitors! He is already successfully competing in 1.2 meter courses as a 4 year old. Congratulations Victor!

***

Congratulations Debbie Tagliavia, Donnerprinz, and trainer Rebecca Langwost! Debbie recently contacted us to let us know that Rebecca and Donnerprinz won 3 training level classes with scores in the mid to upper 60s at his first show!! The judges gave him 8s for gaits in each of his classes!! Donner is the first foal bred by Greenwood SportHorses! It is so gratifying to see a horse we bred being developed so beautifully! We are very grateful someone like Debbie purchased our Donner!  Keep up the good work!!

Greenwood SportHorses is pleased to announce the purchase of the coming 8 year old Holsteiner gelding, Lightning, in partnership with USDF Certified instructor and successful FEI competitor Christopher Hickey ! A friend of ours in Germany had sent us video showing some of the horses in her barn and in the arena was a gorgeous bay gelding schooling passage. I kept trying to get the camera to follow this bay and not the other horses in the ring. What a WOW! When we went to Germany looking for horses, we made a point to see Lightning. Lightning is schooling 4th level, and has a start to his piaffe and passage. He is a dynamic moving horse with tremendous presence in the arena. He commands your attention! Lightning is by Margit Ott-Crepin's Grand Prix dressage stallion Loutano, and is a 3/4 brother to the very popular Grand Prix breeding stallion Lorentin. Chris and Lightning will be a pair to watch in the future!!

Congratulations to Kim Andrews of Ohio for her purchase of the 2002 filly Winter's Dream by Winterprinz (Warkant) out of the Elite Mare Eminence. Kim is looking forward to developing "Windy" into a successful dressage horse, and also plans on using her in her Hanoverian breeding program. Windy is a beautiful filly, and is a fantastic mover. Kim has promised to keep in touch and send pictures! We are pleased she is going to such a good home!

I am pleased to announce that I have found a new horse for myself (Amy)! Unfortunately, the horse I had purchased as a keeper earlier this year (Palido) had to be put down during colic surgery in October. This was a real set back for me on many levels. One thing I have learned this year is that finding good ladies riding horses that aren't older than rope or ridiculously priced is incredibly hard to do. I was not looking forward to shopping for one again. Fortunately, my friends in Germany came to the rescue! They found a lovely 8 year old Hanoverian x Holsteiner gelding named Dinar for me. Dinar is comfortably schooling Prix St. Georges, and is a truly lovely horse to ride. The fact that he looks like every little girl's dream horse (black with a long flowing tail and a big white blaze) doesn't hurt any! Dinar will be shipped to the states in early January, and I can't wait to get him home! Keep an eye out for us in '03!  Update: We recently received a post card from Dinar's former owner/breeder. What a history Dinar has! He originally was competed as a jumper, and competed successfully through 1.3 meter jumper classes! He later campaigned as a dressage horse, and twice qualified for the Bundeschampionate (German Riding Horse Championships). As a stallion he finished 5th at his 100 day test at Adelheisdorf with over 130 points! He finished 2nd in the jumping section right behind the very popular Contender son Contendro, and placed 9th in the dressage phase. I feel so lucky to have this horse!

Congraulations to Kylin Coulter-Meyer for the purchase of the 4 year old Flemmingh son Retour as a grand prix show jumper prospect! Kylin is a highly respected hunter/jumper rider in our area. She had been looking for a top class jumper prospect to develop for herself. Area trainer Fred Kahn told Kylin she had to see Retour! They proved to be a super match, and we are very excited to watch this pair's progress! Best of luck to them in the future!

Congratulations to Karen Monks Reilly and DiMaggio for their wins at the Fall NEDA Breed Show. DiMaggio earned an 80.3% while winning the 3 year old Colt/Gelding class, the Colt Championship and the Young Horse Championship!! We just got a report from Karen that they competed in DiMaggio's first dressage show where they earned two wins at training level with scores of 69% and 72%!! How's that for a three year old! Karen purchased DiMaggio from Greenwood SportHorses earlier this year and we are thrilled at their accomplishments and wish this pair continued success!

Congratulations to Aless Hall and Crown Royale who just earned a whopping 78% at Training level test 4 at the Kansas City Dressage Society Fall Show. This pair earned a perfect 10 and six "9's" in this test as well as the Overall High Score Champion of the show! Aless purchased Crown from us as a late yearling and has done a wonderful job of developing him. We are very proud of them both! We have just learned that Crown has earned 15th place nationwide in the USDF standings for Training level, Open for 2002!
***

Congratulations to VeraLynn Morris and her trainer Barbie Ulbrich of Star Bound Dressage in Maryland for their purchase of the 4 year old Donnerhall gelding Don Alessandro. VeraLynn plans on keeping D.A. in training with Barbie for the next couple of years before taking over the reins full time. They will be in Florida this season, so keep an eye out for them there! I know they will go far with this talented young gelding!

***

Congratulations to Allison Bilzerian of Massachusetts and her trainer Wolfgang Scherzer for the purchase of the 4 year old Hanoverian gelding Bonifatius! Boni is by Brentano II who is the same sire as the great Grand Prix mare Brentina. He is a terrific young horse with three super gaits. Allison is a perfect match for Boni, and will be a tough pair to beat in the show ring!

Congratulations to Victor Marano of Pennsylvania on his purchase of the young Singular Joter mare Sara. This mare is a super young jumper prospect that Victor found while looking for horses in Germany with our partner in that country.   Victor plans on leaving this talented mare in training in Europe for training before bringing her home to the states.

Congratulations to Lisa Whetzel and her trainer Kim Kulczycki of Ponca City, Oklahoma on the purchase of the Elite Mare Eminence. Emmy has been a terrific horse for us having won the USDF Training Level Horse of the Year, 11th place USDF Horse of the Year First Level, and American Hanoverian Society Horse of the Year at Training Level and Reserve Champion at First Level. She has produced two lovely foals for us, and will be missed. I know Lisa and Kim will both enjoy her!

Congratulations to Sheryl McClure of Overland Park, KS, on her purchase of the 2 year old Dutch gelding Toronto! Sheryl has been competing her veteran Take it to the Max, and is ready to bring along a young dressage prospect to take Max's place when he is retired. I am thrilled that Toronto will be staying in the Kansas City area! He is a lovely young horse in every way. When Sheryl vetted Toronto, the vets kept commenting on what a beautiful and well behaved boy he is! Toronto is from the first foal crop of the young Dutch stallion Matterhorn (by Ahorn). It is important to note that Toronto x-rayed very well with no signs of OCD which bodes well for the offspring from this exciting young stallion. Enjoy your new boy Sheryl!

Congratulations to me (Amy)! I finally bought a horse for myself! I am bringing home a 5 year old Dutch gelding named Palido (by Ekstein out of the sport keur elite mare Jomelia H by G. Ramiro Z out of a ster preferent prestatie mare by Notaris x Joost). Palido has an incredible jumping pedigree, and is a very good mover and a beautiful type. He already can do flying changes, big schooling pirouettes, shoulder-in, haunches-in, and half pass. The work is very easy for him. Palido was presented in Holland as a stallion prospect and made it to the 3rd round. He passed all of the conformation, movement, jumping, and x-ray requirements, but was not approved because his sperm count was too low. Too bad for the breeder, but good for me! I am very excited about this horse. He has a good work ethic, and is very talented. All the people I have sold horses to in the past enjoyed seeing me squirm through the vetting process! I buy so many horses, but this one was personal because it was for me! It was good for me to have the shoe on the other foot! Because Palido is only five and has not done much of any showing, I plan on showing him at 1st and 2nd level this season. Keep an eye out for us!

Congratulations to Victor Marano of Philadelphia, PA, on the purchase of the 3 year old Dutch stallion Sylvester. Sylvester is one of the last foals from the preferent Dutch stallion of the Century Nimmerdor and is out of the ster mare Ursela (by the preferent stallion Uppercut xx). Sylvester is a 3/4 brother to Aram (also by Nimmerdor out of an Uppercut mare). Aram is the sire of Sydney Olympic Jumper Gold Medalist De Sjiem! Victor plans on leaving Sylvester in Europe to be started under saddle, and will bring him home later this year. Sylvester will be used as a breeding stallion and will be competed as a jumper. This colt shows incredible scope and power over fences, and will be one to watch in the future!

Congratulations to Glen True of Glass Horse Farm in Raymore, Missouri, on the purchase of the 3 year old Dutch Harness mare Safanka (by Larix). We found Safanka for Glen on one of our buying trips in Holland. She has incredible presence and enormous gaits. Glen is an active competitor and breeder of Arabians, and plans on breeding one of his Arab stallions to Safanka. This cross is very popular among Arabian breeders. Safanka's sire Larix is one of the most successful Dutch harness stallions in Holland, and is known for producing very beautiful type foals and super movers. It was great fun for us to branch out into a different market. It was interesting to see how the harness foals with no special shoeing could move with so much action. I wish the Saddlebred people in the U.S. could see this! They don’t need weighted shoes to move this way! My German friend Christianne Goedeke was with us when we were looking for this mare. The term harness mare did not translate well from English to German, and she was a little confused why we were looking at horses that moved with so much knee action. She thought we were still looking for dressage horses!!!

***

Congratulations to Mary and Morgan Fisher of Wichita, Kansas, on the purchase of the German bred, 4th level, 10 year old gelding Charone. Mary contacted us regarding finding a good dressage horse for her daughter to learn on and compete. Charone fit the bill in every way. He has competed successfully through L level in Germany, and is ready to show M level (4th level) now. He has a big medium trot, easy flying changes, and even with his big gaits is easy to sit. Charone is very honest and kind. I expect big things from this pair!!

***

Congratulations to Deborah Martin and Deena Smith of Trinity Farms on their purchase of the 3 year old, Dutch, gelding Stefan. Stefan is by our favorite Dutch stallion Flemmingh out of a keur mare by Formateur. Stefan is a typical Flemmingh in that he is a beautiful type and is a very good mover. Deborah and Deena plan on leaving Stefan in Holland to be started under saddle, and will import him early this summer. Stefan has been purchased as a re-sale project. If you have any interest, let us know. He is a super young prospect!

***

Congratulations to Karen Monks Reilly of Chester, New Hampshire, on her purchase of the 3 year old Hanoverian gelding DiMaggio! Karen lost her horse last year in a tragic accident, and has been trying to find a good young prospect. As soon as she saw the video of DiMaggio, she knew he was the one for her.
When I saw how well Karen rode and heard what a super home she could give him, I knew she was the one for DiMaggio! Good Luck Karen! You two will go far!!

***

Sue Johnson of Kansas on the purchase of the coming 4 year old Hanoverian gelding Witches Friend (By Waldstar xx o/o Wanessa by Wenzel). Sue lost her horse over the winter, and I am so glad we were able to find such a lovely young horse for her. "Friendly" is a stunning type,  a beautiful mover, and has a very honest character. Our good friend, Christiane Goedecke of Germany, bred this super young horse. His mother Wanessa is by the famous dressage producer Wenzel, and is out of a full sister to the legendary Hanoverian stallion Argentan! This mare is expecting a foal this year from Duntroon (by Donnerhall). I will be keeping a close eye on this foal!

***

Leigh and Ryan Kennedy of Michigan on the purchase of the star Dutch mare Ritta. Leigh is a professional rider, and has been looking for quite some time for a talented young prospect to bring up through the levels. She is a super rider, and will go far with this talented mare. This will be a pair to watch for in the future! Congratulations Leigh!

Julie Kahn of St. Louis, Missouri on the purchase of Rianda H (ster), a Dutch Warmblood mare by Flemmingh out of an Amethist x Variant mare. This is an incredibly beautiful mare with equally impressive gaits.  Julie and Rianda will go far with this beautiful combination!

Jack Robinson and Cheryl Barquest of Loomis, California, on the purchase of the imported Hanoverian mare Aragonia. Aragonia is in foal to the Hanoverian stallion Don Marcello (Donnerhall x Matcho). We own Aragonia's 2000 foal Dabadu Blue by Don Primero. We just love her, and can't wait to see what Aragonia produces for her new owners. Keep us posted Jack and Cheryl!

Congratulations to Michelle Knight and Dick Hemsted of Missouri on the purchase of the States Premium Hanoverian Mare Elfi (Eisenherz x Sender). This mare earned very good marks at her mare performance test with no individual score lower than 7, and her test rider gave her all 8s on gaits!  I believe Elfi is the only States Premium mare in our area, and am very excited that a mare of such quality will be producing foals in our area!

Maria Riva of Wichita, Kansas, on her purchase of the 3 year old Dutch gelding Remminghton (Flemmingh x Purioso). This is a very special young horse, and we are very excited for Maria. She had been looking for a good young prospect for quite some time. She fell in love with Remminghton from the first moment she saw the video of him in Holland. She made us promise not to show him to anyone else until she had an opportunity to come see him. One week after his arrival, she saw him and knew she had to have him! We are very pleased that this lovely horse is going to such a good home!

Update: 2/17/02 I just returned from teaching a clinic in Wichita, and got to see Remminghton and Maria at work! Maria hauled Remmi over to the barn where I was teaching and took a lesson. This 3.5 year old never batted at an eye at anything. What an honest, lovely young horse. Maria just loves him, and is having a blast with him! I am thrilled to see them doing so well together.

Cynthia Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska, on her purchase of Ushina (Orame x Nimmerdor). Cynthia had been looking for a special young filly to start her breeding program. I found this filly in the mare barn at the VDL Stud in Holland. Her mother had been brought to VDL to be bred. The barn was filled with lovely mares and foals, but this filly is the one that caught my eye! She is absolutely gorgeous, and is an incredible mover. Her breeder did not want to sell her, but as they say in the Godfather, we made him an offer he couldn't refuse!  Ushina is from Orame's first foal crop. It this is what Orame is producing, sign me up! I will be watching for this cross in the future. It looks to be a very good one!

Michelle Knight and her trainer Aless Hall of Urich, Missouri, on the purchase of the four year old Oldenburg mare FoxFire (Frohwind x Colored Candle)—FoxFire just entered her first dressage show and was the overall high score with a score over 69%! Watch for this special mare in the future!

UPDATE: FoxFire and Aless earned a 68% and a 2nd place ribbon in good competition her first time out at Training Level Test 4 at the KCDS 2001 fall  show. Overall FoxFire won three 2nd place ribbons with scores ranging from 65-68% at Training level. Way to Go Ladies!

Kyle and Jackie Hall of Urich, Missouri, on the purchase of their new pony Coca Puff. Kyle and Jackie have been winning at Intro Level with this flashy black pony. I wish them continued luck in the future!

Jane Higgins of Ostrander, Ohio, on her purchase of the three year old Hanoverian gelding Weltstar (Wenckstern out of a SPS Wenzel mare).

Update:  Star is now a riding horse, and is doing very well under saddle!

Jane contacted us to let us know that Star is the barn favorite. Everyone stops what they are doing to watch him move! Her trainer is so impressed with his movement and rideability, that he asked Jane to contact us to see if we have more like him! Keep up the good work Jane!

Debbie Tagliavia of Preston, Maryland, on her purchase of the three year old Hanoverian gelding Donnerprinz (Davignport x Elite Mare Eminence). Donner was the first foal bred by Greenwood SportHorses, and holds a very special place in our hearts. Best of luck with this special boy, Debbie!

UPDATE: 8/24/01 Donner is now a winner in hand! Debbie recently showed him at the PVDA Breeders Series Show, and he earned the good score of 76.5% (8-walk 7.5-trot 7.5-conformation 7.5-General Impression) from judge Hilda Gurney. He placed 5th out of 24 (!) horses in the Hanoverian IBC class. We are so thrilled!  Way to go Debbie and Donner!!

Aless Hall of Urich, Missouri, on her purchase of the three year old Hanoverian gelding Crown Royale (by Contender out of a States Premium mare by Walt Disney). Crown has been very successfully shown in hand for Aless, including wins in the 2 year old colts and geldings class at the Dressage Lite USDF/Cosequin Midwest Qualifier in July of last year, and the 3 year old colts and gelding class at this year’s Kansas City Dressage Society USDF Midstates Breeders Series Championship Qualifier.

3/28/02 UPDATE: Crownie and Aless made their under saddle debut last weekend at the KCDS March Show, and what a fabulous debut it was!! They earned two scores of 74% at Intro 1 & 2 which were the high scores of the show. The pair earned their first 9 (!) for a trot circle. Way to go guys! It's on to training level for this pair at the KCDS May show. Good Luck!

5/15/02 update--Crownie and Aless' training level debut was a smashing success! In their four classes, they earned 68, 70, 70, and 72% and were the high score champion on both days of the show!!! Way to go guys!!!

   **

Kimberly Kulczycki of Sweet September Farm in Ponca City, Oklahoma, on her purchase of the four year old Dutch mare Phavorijt (by Wanroij out of a mare by Preussengeist). Phavorijt is now competing successfully at intro and training level, earning good scores in the upper 60s. I know this pair will go far. Congrats Kim!!

Mary Fisher of Wichita, Kansas, on her purchase of Lightning. Mary’s daughter Simone has been cleaning up with Lightning at all the dressage shows in their area. Mary has also been showing Lightning and winning at 3rd level with good scores in the mid 60s%. Glad to hear you are enjoying him so much! Best of luck in this year’s show season!

Liz Woodall of Wellington, Florida, on her purchase of the Westfalen gelding Piper (by Puritano). Piper earned 5th place at 2nd Level, and 10th place at 1st level in the USDF Horse of the Year Standings in 1997. He was a very successful dressage horse for us, and I am glad he went to such a good show home! Enjoy him Liz!

Jackie Anderson of Spokane, Washington, on her purchase of the Dutch Warmblood gelding Killiarc. Killiarc was one of my all time favorites. I bought him as a two year old, and sold him to Jackie when he was four. What a terrific mind this horse has, not to mention his good movement and type. Jackie earned her USDF Bronze Medal on Killiarc, and placed well in the USDF Junior/Young Rider 2nd Level Year End Awards. Keep up the good work Jackie!

Update: We recently heard from Jackie. She reported that Killiarc is now competing in the FEI Young Rider's classes, and they will be competing for a spot on their region's Young Rider Team in 2002. Best of Luck Jackie and Killiarc!
